Lavender oil is one of the most popular essential oils, mainly due to its wide range of health and beauty benefits. It is also one of the most inexpensive and versatile aromatherapy oils available. Unlike many essential oils, pure lavender can be applied directly onto the skin, without the need for carrier oil. Here are five health and beauty uses for lavender oil.

Insomnia

The scent of lavender has a calming effect on the nervous system and can help to induce sleep. Adding a couple of drops of lavender oil to your pillow or applying them directly onto your temples can bring fast relief from insomnia. Alternatively, you can add the oil to a late-night bath, as the warm water will increase the calming effect.

Acne

Lavender oil is an effective treatment for acne, as it helps to promote healing, prevent infection and reduces the likelihood of long-term scarring. Many oils can make acne worse, as oil can clog the pores and trap dirt on the skin, but neat lavender oil is light enough to absorb quickly and will not sit on the outer layer of skin. You can also try adding a few drops of the oil to your regular skin cream.

Muscular Pain

Muscular aches and pains, including back pain, can often be relieved by using lavender massage oil. You can make your own massage blend by adding around five drops of lavender oil to a tablespoon of carrier oil, such as sweet almond, avocado, wheat germ or grapeseed oil. For extra pain relief, try adding one or two drops of eucalyptus oil to the mix, as this can help to relieve muscle tension.

Dry Skin

Lavender can be an effective remedy for dry skin, chapped lips and some skin conditions, including dermatitis and eczema. Adding a few drops of lavender to a tablespoon of coconut oil is a natural alternative to shop-bought moisturizers. Many packaged moisturizers designed for dry skin contain harsh chemicals that can make the condition worse.

Hair and Scalp Problems

Lavender oil can be used to treat dandruff and prevent fungal infections. Some studies have also suggested that massaging the oil directly into the scalp can help to stimulate hair growth in people with alopecia. Dab a little of the neat oil onto your fingertips and gently massage into the scalp to encourage hair growth and prevent dandruff. For chronic or recurring fungal infections, finish the massage with a thin layer of coconut oil, as coconuts contain powerful anti-fungal properties.

Lavender oil is a popular essential oil used in aromatherapy. It can be used to treat many different health problems, including insomnia, acne, muscle pain, dry skin and dandruff. While the oil is considered safe to use for most people, it can sometimes cause an allergic reaction, so it’s important to consult your doctor if you notice a rash or other unusual symptoms after using the oil. In addition, pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid undiluted essential oils.

Give Your Body And Mind A Boost With Resveratrol

There’s recently been an abundance of discussion around a powerful substance. Recommended by sports nutritionists, doctors, and endocrinologists all over, resveratrol is known to have antioxidant properties that can help protect the body against the risks of cancer and heart disease. It is commonly found inside the skin of red grapes—explaining its presence in red wine—as well as some berries, peanut butter, and even pine nuts. However, while it’s been described as a healthy food and great for many ailments, few people know of the exact benefits that it can offer. Resveratrol can serve many purposes in boosting the strength of your mind and soul.

As An Antioxidant – Resveratrol is a strong antioxidant that assists in boosting the immune system and also helps to fight many pollutants that get into the body from the external conditions. These pollutants can cause the immunity system of the body to lower by damaging the body on a cellular level. The use of resveratrol can stop that from happening, and even reverse damage.

Cleaner Blood – Resveratrol can be used as a blood thinner, which will inevitably lead to a healthier heart. When blood clots form in blood vessels, they can be deadly; therefore blood thinners are useful. However, a word of caution: one should always talk to their doctor when taking any other medications to make sure the resveratrol does not work against their body.

Hormonal Improvement – Good hormone function is essential for a healthy body. When the hormones are not in balance, the body is out of equilibrium and can cause many ailments such as fatigue, mood swings, weight fluctuations, and more. A benefit of resveratrol is that it assists in regulating and bringing hormone functions back into a healthy balance.

Alzheimer’s Disease – As most people know, Alzheimer’s is a condition seen mostly in elderly people that assaults brain cells. People affected by the condition can gradually lose their memory as well as many of their cognitive skills. This makes life and work difficult and increasingly challenging to them. Resveratrol is used in this case as a preventative measure to help fight the onset of Alzheimer’s. Additionally, increasing the effect of the resveratrol can be accomplished by also using vitamins C and E.

Cancer Prevention – Where cancer is related, resveratrol has a surprising number of benefits. It has been known to help reduce the odds of getting breast cancer, as well as keeping other cancers from spreading and moving to other parts of the body. With cancer being one of the major killers today, proper prevention methods should be implemented.

Diabetes Prevention – Resveratrol can assist in preventing insulin resistance, which is the origin and cause of diabetes. However, the best prevention plan is one that also ensures that only quality, low-GI foods are consumed. A great recommendation is the paleo diet, and many books and articles on the plan can be found online.

Studies have successfully demonstrated that resveratrol can lead to longevity in life. While the exact reasons behind its success is unknown, the resveratrol is believed to activate the gene known as SITR1. This is a gene that helps to guard the body from destructive effects of obesity and aging diseases. Regardless of how it works, it has been shown to prevent some of the problems that come with age, and fight off other diseases that arise as a result of poor lifestyle choices.
