Mistakes newbie beekepers make

Beekeeping, just like any other venture, has lessons that are learned the hard way. Even though I am yet to start, I have gathered that a high bee traffic doesn't always indicate a good colony health. Observation should be done on a weekly or daily basis even if this entails opening the hives and examining the combs within. What other mistakes are newbies likely to make?

Ooh yes, making mistakes is inevitable but we can always learn from them. One common one is harvesting too early or taking too much. In fact, it is often recommended that no honey is taken from a colony in its first year because the bees aren't strong enough to make an excess amount.
