Perfecting Skin Care Routine Fundamentals

Everybody wants beautiful skin, but not everybody has time for an intensive skin care routine. Fortunately, you can still make your skin something you can be proud of by perfecting the fundamentals. All it takes is a few minutes a day.

Stay Hydrated

One of the most effective things you can do is also one of the easiest: just keep yourself hydrated. Make sure you drink eight glasses of water or other liquid every day to keep your skin firm, smooth and beautiful.

Cleanse and Moisturize Daily

If your skin is dry and rough, then you need to be sure to clean it every day with a mild skin cleanser. Afterward, massage some moisturizer into it. Do not skip this step. The moisturizer improves your blood flow and the way your skin feels. You should also avoid long baths and hot showers, because they will just make your skin even drier. Never use harsh skin cleansers; they will just make the problem worse in the long run. Applying nourishing cream to all of your visible skin each evening before bed is also a good idea. If you do not want to use a store-bought nourishing cream, then you can easily make your own all natural version. Just mix together one egg, a teaspoon of honey, and a teaspoon of coconut oil.

Skin Care Routine for Dry, Oily or Combination Skin

While it is important to regularly cleanse your skin, it is equally important not to over-cleanse it. If you have problems with rashes and acne, you may be over-cleansing. Your skin acts as a natural barrier, keeping dirt and environmental pollution out of your body while keeping moisture in your body. Part of how the skin does its job is with natural oils in your skin. When you over-cleanse, you strip away those natural oils. If your skin feels taut or tight, this could be a sign of over-cleansing.

If you have greasy skin then you should try a different sort of cleansing regimen. Try washing your face gently with nothing more than tepid water twice a day. Use an oil-based cleanser once a day to drag the grease and grime out of your pores. If you moisturize, then use a moisturizer that is oil-free. Use only water-based cosmetics. If commercial products aren’t doing the job, you can try making your own ideal face wash by mixing one part cucumber pulp, one part honey, and one part cider vinegar. Stir in enough dry green tea leaves to make a thick paste.

If you have combination skin, with oily skin in some places and dry skin in other places, then you need a different skin care routine. Usually, the oily areas will be around your nose and on your forehead, while your cheeks are dry. Wash your face once in the morning and once at night. This will take care of the excessive oil. However, do not wash your face more often than that because the dry patches will only get worse. You will have to use two different skin cleansers for the different types of skin. Use cleansers made specially for greasy skin on the oily patches. Use only oil-free products on the dry patches.

Try a Toner for Rough Skin

If you suffer from rough skin, you can make it smoother with a common kitchen product. Scrub it with orange juice every day. Try combining tomato juice and lemon juice in equal amounts if you want your skin to have a more glowing look.

No matter what kind of skin you have, you can keep it looking its best by learning and perfecting the basics for your kind of skin. A proper skin care routine doesn’t require lengthy, complex regimens or expensive skin care products. All it takes is a few minutes a day and knowing the right ways to spend them.
